FLYT 2290 Student Robotics Team

Hosted by Rockford MakerSpace, team 2290 - FLYT is a newly-formed FIRST® Robotics Competition (FRC) team for high school students throughout northern Illinois. As a community/open team, we welcome students whose schools have no FRC teams. Although FLYT is starting fresh, our team retains its roots from a previous program established in 2007, carrying forward years of experience in building robots and fostering STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education.

Our mission is to inspire students through hands-on learning in robotics where they develop leadership, teamwork, and technical skills that will prepare them for the future workforce. Every year, young women and men on our team design, build, and program a competition robot, participate in local outreach, and compete at regional and national events. This provides real-world experience in engineering, project management, and problem-solving, all while contributing to our community through service.
