Come get together at the Rockford Makerspace to make pretty blue lights and stick pieces of metal together. This is a beginner's introduction to the art and craft of welding.
There will be a quick overview of different welding technologies TIG, MIG, SMAW, and FCAW. We will spend approximately one hour on safety, equipment, supplies, materials, and theory. The second half will be "hands on" sticking metal together, making tacks, and laying down a bead. We will be working with the Rockford MakerSpace's Hobart 190 MIG/Wire welder.
Please wear closed toed shoes, long pants, and no loose scarves or sweaters. Clothes should be natural fibers (cotton, wool).
