Introduction to the Tormach CNC

This introductory workshop is intended to give you a feel for what the Tormach PCNC770 CNC is capable of and a basic overview of how to use the machine.

Participants will have the opportunity to machine an aluminum part. The goal of the workshop is for you to walk away “knowing what you don’t know” so that you have a good starting place for further exploration on your own.

Covered topics include an introduction to techniques for holding and locating a workpiece, cutter types, feeds and speeds, etc. This course does not cover topics related to designing a part, CAM (preparing machining toolpaths), etc. (everything that needs to happen before you are able to machine a part).
